Each side of an equation is made up of an expression.  Before solving an equation, you must first simplify each side.  These are the steps to do so.

 

1)  Distribute

 

2)  Combine Like Terms

  • Try to beat the computer on easy, medium, and then hard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Create three expressions that require the use of both steps to simplify.  Simplify each on a separate sheet of paper.  Give the original problems to your partner.

 

 

Part of tonights homework will be for you to simplify the expressions your partner created.
