Math4All

WELCOME.
I have compiled this list of technology resources specifically for struggling middle-school students and those who teach them. These tools can be used by individuals attempting to perform better in mathematics or by educators trying to motivate and engage students. I have chosen to focus on project- and problem-based learning resources because I believe these teaching strategies motivate and engage students to pursue learning mathematics. In my attempts to incorporate these strategies in my own classroom, I have noticed an increase in motivation and more time on-task behaviors. I decided to also included educational games because I have had many students and parents that ask me what they can do at home or in addition to improve math skills. These games are not only educational, but also very fun and can be used any time internet access is available. It is my hope to expand this resource library by having others contribute and evaluate tools they find effective with all grade levels. It would be beneficial to have a website that all students and teachers in my district could access for additional math practice and lesson ideas.
My reason for evaluating these mathematical resources are so other teachers are aware of the possible learning activities, standards, uses, representations, and applications to PBL/PrBL each resource has. I hope that my evaluations will explain what each resource entails and how to use it in a classroom setting. I know it can be overwhelming to find technology that will enhance your class when there are so many options out there. These evaluations can be used by teachers to preview games and narrow down what to try out and what to discard.
If you have ideas, resources, tools that you think would be useful additions to this page, or if you just want to discuss teaching mathematics, please feel free to email me.
